VIC - The 623, 624 and 625 Attendance Code

Student attendance is critical for learning and remains critical during the period of remote and flexible learning due to coronavirus (COVID-19). Daily attendance is still required and expected.

However, monitoring of attendance will understandably need to be done differently to account for most students being at home and only some being on school sites.

Note: It is particularly important that schools and the Department get information on how many students are attending on site to support the health and safety of staff and students and to inform planning for staffing and services.
  • For students learning remotely, the regular attendance code, 100 - Present should be entered into CASES21.
  • For students participating in an on-site teaching and learning program, the attendance code 623 – On-site Program should be entered.
  • Absences should be recorded as per normal.
For students learning from home on an exceptional basis, the attendance code 624 - Remote Learning (exceptional) should be entered.

For students learning from home, the attendance code 625 - Remote Learning should be entered.
  • So when you are marking the roll you will see the codes displayed in the drop-down.

Admin staff may wish to use Bulk Absences rather then do this individually for each student.
This is dependant on the processes you have established during COVID-19 as this may not suit all schools.
  • Go to Attendance > Bulk Absences
  • Search by roll class or year groups.
  • Tick the students who are present onsite at school and complete the right hand side
  • Date (from and to)
  • Complete  as per above and apply the 623 code
