Comment lengths have 2 settings, a hard limit, and a soft limit.

• Hard limit will not allow a teacher to go over the number of characters limit.
• Soft limit will let a teacher go over the limit but display a warning.

It can be set as a default length for all Comments across the entire Reporting Period:

• Click on Academic Reports Setup > Reporting > Reporting Period
• Click Edit and define the Reporting Period Comment Defaults according to preference

Character limits can be edited/set as default for each Assessment Schema (to apply to all comments length within schema)

• Academic Reports Setup > Reporting > Assessment Schema > Edit
• Click Edit again (black Edit button in the right hand-corner)
• Set required limits

 Character limits can be edited for each KLA that has a Comment

• Click on  Academic Reports  Setup > Reporting > Assessment Schema > Edit
• Go to each KLA with has a Comment enabled and Edit
• Set required limits (which will only apply to that KLA’s comment)
