How does a casual teacher mark the roll if the Roll Class Teacher is absent?
Our standard recommendation in these instances is that a manual roll is kept for that/those day(s) where the official roll class teacher is unavailable and have them entered retrospectively by an office staff member or the class teacher upon return to school. Manual Rolls sheets can also be generated with barcodes on them, so that office staff can easily and efficiently scan in students who are absent via these casual rolls, ensuring that the data is submitted on the day of, rather than retrospectively for students in affected classes.
The reason being that if you create a casual account that has access to all rolls, this potentially enables a casual staff member to modify rolls where unauthorized to do so, which could end up having a negative impact on the accuracy of what is considered legal information.
Note:
An attendance record is a legal document. A school can be ordered to provide this information by a court, and may require information about who it was marked by, and when.
If the roll is being marked by another teacher in your school, the roll can be temporarily reassigned by your Attendance Administrator.
