Sentral syncs with a number of School Adminstratiojn Systems AND timetable packages.

It is the School Administration System (eg. OASIS, CHESS, Edsas, MAZE) that manages the data regarding students enrolled and teachers. This data needs to be imported/synchronised to Sentral.

If you can see the Timetables module with a coloured icon in Sentral then your school uses a dedicated timetabling program to generate the schools timetable. It might be called Edval, Timetables, TimeChart or FirstClass as an example. Sentral Timetables connects with your timetable generator to import/sync class lists and timetables for easy printing, timetable searching, meeting planning and more.

Any new staff or students (eg Year 7 students) will NOT appear in the Sentral data layer until the sync with your enrolments system has occurred. These new staff and students will NOT be visible in the Timetables class list nor in PXP as Sentral needs to ‘know’ about them until the enrolment system is linked with Sentral.

Sentral will use the student or staff ID from your administration system to link data between modules. This field needs to be set to the same value in both your administration system AND your timetable package

Edval Staff - Important to Note:
Edval has a special field called SentralID. It is this field which gets published to Sentral, not the Edval TeacherID. In some cases, this field may not be visible when you open your etz file.
If this is the case, on the Teacher Data screen, click on the More menu (the last one on the right) and select Show: Sentral id

Example:

Anna Smith is a new student in 2016. She has been placed in class 8SC in the timetable system (TimeChart). The school Administrator performs a timetable sync to import the TimeChart class lists. When checking via Timetables > Classes > 8SC, all students are listed except Anna Smith. The reason for this is that the Sentral data layer has no information on Anna and so believes that the student is NOT enrolled in the school. A sync with the administration system (eg. OASIS, CHESS.Edsas) is required to import Anna Smith into the Sentral data layer. Once completed, Anna Smith will be visible in the Timetables class list 8SC.

Similar Issues will occur in the PXP and Markbook modules if the sync with the school administration system has not been performed.
