Why are none of my new rollclasses importing?

When importing rollclasses from your administration system, Sentral's data layer importer will take note of the start date. This problem may appear particularly during school breaks, and even more so at the beginning of the year.

In the case of Sentral Enrolments, this start date is the first day of your academic period.

Academic Period Best Practice
When creating an academic period, it is recommended you create the year as the calendar year (or close to, eg start on the first Monday of the year), rather than the school year. This will ensure everything has been imported prior to the school year commencing.

Example - No Rollclasses using Sentral Enrolments
You have setup your new rollclasses in Enrolments, but they are not importing into Sentral correctly (or at all).Your academic period commences on 26/1/2021, which is in the future.In this case, rollclasses will not be imported until 26/1/2021. As mentioned above, it is recommended you set the academic period to (or around) January 1st, until (or around) December 31st.

To change the Academic Period Dates;
  • Go to  Enrolments > Setup Enrolments > Academic Periods
  • Edit Current Academic Period Name
  • Change the start date
Once this is done, you can perform a manual sync, and data should be imported as expected.
To perform a manual data sync;
  • Sentral Setup Cog > Data synchronisation > Synchronise now
Important to Note
You require Administrator level access to Sentral Enrolments, and Sentral Administrator rights to perform a manual data sync.

While this article is somewhat focused on using Sentral Enrolments as your Data Layer source, if your administration system has school commencement dates, or rollclass commencement dates, you may experience the same issue.
