SA - How do I import my NAPLAN data into Analysis?

The following provides instructions for exporting NAPLAN data from the South Australian Student Data Warehouse for importing into Sentral’s Analysis module.

It is vital that you do not open the exported files in Excel prior to uploading to Sentral – doing so will alter the format of the files and render them unreadable by the importer.

Step 1: Login to LearnLink (first authentication request)

Step 2: Access the Applications portal from The DECD LearnLink page. You will be prompted to authenticate again. Enter your Learnlink details to proceed.

Step 3: From the Application portal, select “Student Data Warehouse

Step 4: On the next screen, select School Users

Step 5: Log in with your LearnLink Credentials when prompted. This should be the third (and final) authentication prompt you receive.

Step 6: From the welcome screen, select the Class/Year Level tab

Step 7: Select Student Results by Year Level from the left hand menu

Step 8: Make sure to select your School, Current Year Level and all Aspect values before running report. You must select all the Aspects as shown in the image below – use the Select all link to do this.

Step 9: On the top right hand corner, you will see a link, Export to Excel. Click on this link and save the resulting file to a location you will be able to find (Note: do NOT open this in Excel and select Save As… as the resulting file will not be recognised!)

Step 10: Repeat steps 8 through 9 for each year level.

Import the data into Sentral Analysis

Once in Sentral Analysis > Analysis Setup> Import.

Select the test type - eg NAPLAN (SA)

Drag and drop the NAPLAN file/s you have downloaded (or click to upload from saved location)

NOTE: You can drag multiple files and upload simultaneously as long as they are the same file type. (e.g. NAPLAN)

Once you have uploaded your files, click on the Upload Test Data button

You will now be transferred to the Imported Files Screen

If there is a significant number of students that do NOT match the file you’re uploading, you may need to match students manually before importing.

Ideally you will get “Import Completed” if all students match initially.

If the file type is accepted but the import procedure has not been released; it
will show an “Undergoing Review” status. This means that the Sentral team will investigate the import procedures and release the importer when available.
