SAS Contacts Datalayer Sync options explained

Background:
When we import contact 1 and contact 2 we look at a list of contacts a student is related to.
Then we sort that list by Residential Guardians field first and then Sort Order field (both coming from SAS).

Ignore family contacts in emergency contacts
Some SAS schools had their parent contacts also set as emergency contacts as a result contacts were showing twice on the Student Profile screen. Once in the Contact 1 / Contact 2 section and the same details were repeated over in Emergency Contacts section.

Ignore emergency contacts in family contacts
By default we do not sort or filter the list for emergency contacts as sometimes SAS schools have their primary (parents/guardians) contacts also set as emergency contacts.
If this setting if tunned on makes sure to not include emergency contacts from showing up in Contact 1 and Contact 2 fields in Profiles screen.

Ignore non-residential guardian contacts
When importing for contact 1 and contact 2 we do not filter out non-residential contacts as a student could only have a non-residential contact as a guralidan. In those cases we do not filter the list of student contacts to only residential contacts.
If this setting is turned on we only retrieve residential contacts and save them in contact 1 and contact 2 sections.

Import gender specific student contact first
This setting is mostly for messaging. As the when we started looking into student contacts for getting family details from SAS into Sentral. We couldn’t be sure if a mother (female) contact is going to be placed in contact 1 or not. Messaging mostly relies on contact 1 and most school prefer contacting a student’s mother. If that is not the case overrides in messaging are set to not use the contact 1.
If this setting in turned on it ensures that the only female contacts (mother) is given the first priority  when messaging a student’s parent.
